Product Description
The Wampler Paisley Drive pedal was designed to Brad Paisley's exacting requirements: a pedal that's clean, but able to deliver beefy crunch when you lean into it. Adds some hair to your tone, but spews out sonic destruction when you need it and gorgeously fluid tone when you're soloing. Oh, yeah - it needs to not sound like a pedal! Does the Paisley Drive deliver? You bet. If you're after responsive overdrive that sounds like a tube amp and lets the true character of your guitar come through, the Wampler Paisley Drive is for you.Wampler Paisley Drive Overdrive Pedal Review
This review will be a bit different from the others scattered around the net....I DON'T play a Tele, I really can't chicken pick much...love Brad Paisley, can't play anything like him!I just got a 35 watt Orange solid state amp combo (yet very tube like)...I play lots of modern pop-country stuff, kind of dirty, crunchy, and I use a semi hollow body and a les paul copy...both with dual humbuckers.
I haven't even read the manual yet, but I've been playing 30 years, so I figured I didn't need it!
Withe presence switch "up" (on) and the mid contour all the way at the top setting, it has some boosted mids, all the way to the bottom is a little too fat for the humbuckers, but would be great with a tele (used to have one).
With the gain about 11 o'clock, and with a dyna comp in front of this, I can go pretty crazy with just backing off the to clean it up a little...I can get all the "correct" humbucker crunch tune tones for the modern country stuff by rolling back the volume, and if I max it, I can easily get into the 70's Aerosmith sound...If I bring the gain up a bit more, it'll really start kicking!...great classic rock box too, but not really 80's metal, and DEFINITELY not NU-Metal!
I can't wait to get the Pinnacle down the road, the 2 channel one!
This thing IS expensive, but not the most expensive boutique pedal out there, and I really love it!...I traded a Line 6 X3 Live and an OLD Fender stage 100dsp and 212 cabinet for this pedal and a Boss CH-1 Super chorus (not too shabby), I'm not sorry at all I traded the space station for this, I can FINALLY get the tone I want, and it doesn't feel like a pedal when you play it!
