I got one to prevent body oils and sweat from destroying the finish on my instrument. It works for that. Does it improve tone as claimed by lifting the arm from damping the top? Maybe but it's subtle. The shape does not fit the curve of my instrument very well so often my arm drops off the bottom end of the arm rest when I play standing. I could use an extension - a "mini" section or a complete rest that extends around the bottom bout further. A friend of mine has one where the adhesive just quit and the arm rest fell off. Odd. Mine sticks fine. It's a good product.
