I've owned probably two dozen distortion, fuzz, overdrive boxes over the years. Thought plenty have come and gone, the Rat2 had been a constant on my pedal board. That is until I got my Deucetone.
As my title implies, this pedal is just about everything a person could ask for in a Rat distortion.
You get two rats in one box, each with three individual settings. You can run one, run the other, run one INTO the other. Its pretty amazing, and you can get tons and tons of sounds outta this box.
My personal favorite right now is running the Dirty Rat into the Vintage Rat, both distortions at about 10 o'clock, with the Dirty Rats filter all the way to the right, so its really low and bassy and the Vintage Rats filter at about 11 o'clock so it brightens the whole thing way up. Very rich, very dirty, like vintage Motorhead. And that's through my solid state, 25w combo amp. I've never heard that little amp sound so good before. I've also ran this through a Blues Junior and and my 100w all tube B-52 half stack. Its sounded amazing on all of them. I can get so many great, "big amp" kinda sounds out of any of my amps, regardless of their actual size, make-up, or volume.
For its versatility and its superior tone options, the Deucetone has now become my go-to Distortion pedal. My one complaint is the input and output jacks are backwards compared to just about every other pedal, but if crossing a few cables is the price I have to pay to get tones this good, its a small inconvenience.
The Rat was a great pedal to begin with, but this thing takes it to the next level. I give it the highest of praise.
