Once you have it on it works perfect but the kit I received had mounting screws that were too short. I had to take a grinder to make the plate fit and in doing so, scratched, gashed and damaged my beautiful gold Bigbsy B7. I contacted Vibramate and they told me because of the inconsistencies due to the manufacture of the American Bigbsy was the cause of the problem. Actually, in my opinion, the fault lies with Vibramate since they apparently knew the issue of the manufacturing differences of the American Bigsby and should have supplied different length screws for mounting which could and should have saved me the grief of having to now live with a nicely gashed gold Bigsby(not cheap).

Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup Review

This is very easy to install and you could easily install it moments before performing if needed. Now that I've decided to keep it I will rewire it to the guitar's end-pin jack. My only issue with this model was the signal level to the PA when I play at a local open mic. I purchased the Behringer PB100 Volume Booster pedal... problem solved nicely. Some folks may prefer a fully active sound hole pickup instead but they cost decidedly more for the better ones. Going this route I can say that this pickup works well for me and if I don't like the pedal it's easy to rethink that purchase at some point without change the pickup I have now.

3-18-2013 - Update, I've actually done the rewiring I spoke about earlier so I don't have the cord hanging out of the guitar when it's not in use. Here is the amazing part, I don't need the pre-amp now, it gets plenty of signal to the PA. Apparently the signal loss was due to the 10' thin-ish cable.

If you've never rewired these things, just take your time and be patient with stripping the outer and inner insulation. Be sure to 'tin' the wires before soldering them to the end-pin jack. Also, before you start the final soldering, try to put a 1-2 inch piece of heat shrink tubing on the cable so when you're all done you can shrink the tubing over it all to add 'strain relief'.

First, one of the posts was very loose. You could shake it back and forth and it would rattle. That string would not stay in tune, or even close. Second, I detuned the strings in order to lubricate the guitar nut, and TWO strings popped at the tuners. I was told that it was due to sharp edges where the strings are locked. Not good. I don't want to change strings every time I detune. I removed them from my guitar and replaced them with standard tuners. The hipshots are now sitting in my desk drawer and that's where they will stay.
