An original BOSS Slow Gear pedal goes for $3-400. This pedal does the same thing for less than a tenth of the price. Basically it's like turing up your volume control with every note. You have to pick consistently, maintaining the same volume. If you can't do that maybe a compressor in front of this pedal will help. In less than 10 minutes I had the optimal settings for me, SENS at 8 oclock and ATTACK at 9 oclock. If SENS is too low it may block notes completely, set it too high and the effect will effectively (no pun intended!) be off. ATTACK controls the speed of the rise. Start with it in the middle. I was playing moderately fast notes so I turned it down for a faster rise. Battery is under the moving part of the pedal, you have to remove it with two ballpoint pens.

For the money it can't be beat.

Oh, one more thing to note: It works much better with single notes that with chords. And it works better with a clean signal so place it early in your signal chain, before any distortion boxes.
