Carrion C-1504 Fretted Case for Guitar Review

I just received this case and it looks pretty well manufactured, no quality issues apparently. The external appearance is great, it has four locking latches (all of them look and work pretty decently), and the handle looks like will do the job.

However, my first impression is that you have to be pretty gentle with the cover/lid since it feels kind of thin and the cover hinges don't seem very strong to me (there is a strap at the bottom of the cover and the bottom of case that will prevent you from over-traveling the cover, but I feel like it needs to be treated with some caution anyway).

I bought this case for a thin body guitar used in our church's choir, I tested it at home and it actually fit my classical guitar like a glove so I might actually get one for me in the near future and throw away my old cardboard case.

Here are the approximate internal dimensions since nor the manufacturer nor Amazon seem to believe that anyone would actually care to know them... So that you don't have to take a chance like I did:

Internal height: 41" (104 cm)
Upper bout: 12" (30.4 cm)
Waist: 10.5" (26.5 cm)
Lower bout: 15.75" (40 cm)
Depth: 5" (12.5 cm)

The thickness of the internal padding is around 0.75" so I guess it is pretty well protected and you can still get a little more room considering that the padding can be compressed a little (but not too much!) when putting your beloved instrument inside.

Just keep in mind that these dimensions are from just one sample (mine... of course) and there might be a little variation in the one you get, so please don't get mad at me if the manufacturer cannot control his production process very well... :)

Overall, this item looks great and I don't think you can find a better value for the price. I will update this review if there are any issues with the performance over time, in the mean time, I hope this helps your purchase decision... regards!

*** EDIT 6/22: I am not so sure anymore that this is the best deal that you can find in Amazon since the price went up around 50%... if it drops back to $42, do not hesitate and get it... meanwhile... I would suggest another brand like Musician's Gear which is still at $50... peace!
*** EDIT 11/12: The first case that I bought is still doing all right and as promised, since the price dropped to ~$36 I purchased another one for my old classical guitar which deserved a better case than the current cardboard one. Arrived in great shape and I am already enjoying it... regards!
