Product Description
Nickel-Plated Steel wound strings were introduced in the late Sixties and have become the most popular alloy for electric guitars and bass. Nickel-plated steel tends to offer the most balanced tone. They are created by wrapping Nickel-Plated Steel alloys around a hex-shaped core wire which is made from tin-plated high-carbon steel (same as plain strings, but hex-shaped). The core-to-wrap ratio is the combined diameters of the core wire and the wrap wire which creates the overall diameter of the string.

Curt Mangan Fusion Matched Nickel Wound Electric Strings (9-42) Review
I could tell before I even plugged in that I loved these strings - better than my previous brand. I have been using Nickel Wound Fender strings on my Stratocasters for 25 years, but they were getting a little harder to come by locally. So, I did a couple of forum searches and found that nearly every one who tried Curt Mangan strings said they "never looked back". And I just joined them... The classic "Nickel Wound Tone" not too bright, but clean and crisp - just enough Fender Twang for Classic Rock and/or Country, geat feel and flexibility, and intonated effortlessly. I also have the Pure Nickels to try out, but I'm already sure I'm going to like them too. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Curt Mangan Fusion Matched Nickel Wound Electric Strings (9-42)" are high quality item.
