This is a great pedal! The best part is that I can control the rate of the vibrations and the sound does not cut off when I strike the strings again. It has a clean sound, and sustain is very good. It is, however made of some hard plastic, so, it is not recommended that you abuse it, drop it, or stomp really hard on it.

Amp Modeling

Mustang™ I and II give you 24 individual amp presets arranged in three banks of 8 (i.e., three ’57 Deluxe™ presets, three Brit ’60s presets, etc.). These presets are easily and instantly dialed up using the “preset” knob (or from your footswitch or computer). Turn this knob to scroll through each of the three preset banks, which are indicated on the control panel by LED columns colored amber, green and red.

The red and green banks are for creating your own presets; the amber bank can only be modified using Fender® FUSE™ software.

Modulation Effects

Mustang further sculpts your sound with 12 sweeping, swooping and shimmering adjustable modulation effects, including chorus, phaser, flanger, vibratone, tremolo, step filter and octaver. Use your computer to add more effects, too.

Delay / Reverb Effects

Mustang makes the room resound with 12 easily adjustable delay and reverb effects ranging from subtle to cavernous, including tape delay, stereo/mono delay and room/plate/hall reverb.

Mustang I and II each have 24 effects controlled by two simple selection knobs on the control panel. The first knob (“MOD”) controls 12 modulation effects; the second (“DLY/REV”) controls 12 delay/reverb effect

The MOD and DLY/REV knobs share the same three selection indicator LEDS. These LEDS are numbered 1, 2, and 3, and they correspond to the three positions within each of the selection ranges, labeled A, B, C and D on each knob (see the Mustang I/II manual for a table listing the effects selection for each knob). Use the LEDs to determine exactly which position the knob is pointing to (using the factory settings of the “MOD” knob, for example, position 1 in the A selection range gives you chorus, position 2 in the A selection range gives you deep chorus, and position 3 in the A selection range gives you flanging).

Adjusting the effects levels on Mustang I and II couldn’t be easier—simply hold down the “EXIT” button while turning the “MOD” or “DLY/REV” knobs. Doing this adjusts “how much” of a particular effect you’ll get, according to your personal preference.

USB Connection

Mustang includes USB connectivity for high-quality, low-latency audio output, and to engage the Fender® FUSE™ software application for PC and Mac. Fender Mustang II Electric Guitar Amplifier Review

As far as amps that model vintage tones. This is the best.

For my ear, Line 6, Vox, Crate, Digitech etc are nowhere near the Fender Mustang if you are comparing Vintage tones.

I have played amps and effects from many companies, as well as many of the 'hybrid amps' that combine tube and digital tones, and if you are looking for the best recreation of Vintage Blues, Rock, Hard Rock, Country tones... the type of tones that you get from some of the famed Fender amps, the Mustang Series is as good as you are going to do.

I originally bought the Mustang I for my 9 year old son to be his first practice amp and when we hooked it up for him, I could hardly let him play.

The tone editing is easy through the controls on the amp. It is easy and straight forward to see what you need to do to tweak your sound just by turning knobs. When you add the Fender FUSE to the mix and start to download new tones from the web and tweak it with dozens of stomp boxes and effects that are free to play with and try and keep on your amp this is an amazing value. (not to even mention the Ableton recording software that comes for free with the amp.)

The reason I love this amp is because of the faithful recreation of the great Fender amps like the Bassman, Deluxe Reverb, and Twin Reverb. I have never heard a digital sound replicate tube amps even close to this well.

I have heard several people say that they would never buy this amp because it is not a tube amp or because they are not computer savvy.

For the Tube amp snobs...
Nothing is going to match the sound of a really great Fender Tube amp. But if you want to recreate great fender amps at low volumes the Mustang will be a great practice amp for you. OR... if you want to bring an amp to practice that weighs a fraction of what your Fender Tube amps weighs, the mustang is a great choice. I am selling my only tube amp now that I have the Mustang II because I don't gig and really need an amp that I can practice with at night while the kids are in bed.

For the Non-Computer folk...
There is plenty to keep you occupied on this amp without ever plugging it into a computer. And if you want to give it a try, it couldn't be easier to download new sounds and tweak your favorite tones.

For the Metalheads...
This amp probably is not for you. Go try and buy a higher gain Line 6 or the Vox ADT series of hybrid amps to get some really heavy tones. There are some decent metal tones to download on the FUSE, but the real strength of this amp is Vintage tones.

Let me make it clear! I played my son's Squier Mini guitar through this amp and it sounds really amazing. I have a Fender Strat, Squier Tele and a Les Paul and they all sound amazing in this amp.
This is the first piece of guitar equipment that has given me absolutely NO buyers remorse. Unbeatable value. A great toy. A perfect practice tool. You can't beat it.

Levy's Leathers MS12-CPR 2-inch Suede-Leather Strap,Copper Review

For some reason, I find it much easier to play a guitar standing up with a strap than in any sitting position. So this thing was a great help for me. Leather is real, the strap is adjustable and all that. Comfortable and tough. But my wife said it makes me look like a youth minister. Which is fine, if that's what you're into. But if you want to look more non-inspirational, you may want to go with the black.

This is a tough light weight punchy little amp. I'm surprised by how much it can put out. It's fabulous for personal practice and has a beautifuly crisp sound. I've also used it as a keyboard amp in the symphony orchestra in which I play. It serves wonderfully to accurately produce a harp sound with a synth. You can't beat the value of this amp.
