My initial order of short scale strings were too short; however, D'Addario responded in a professional manner and sent me the medium length which work great. I purchased one of these a few years back after hearing how amazed others were with the sound of the French Toast.

Mind you, it's not a pedal you'll use every day, but for the money, it comes REALLY close to matching the Foxx Tone Machine. It's got a pretty good fuzz going with a really great up-octave effect at the same time.

If you do double-stops, you'll get a really nice ring-modulator-ish effect.

This pedal will give you taste of some of Hendrixes tone, all you need to add is the talent. :)

Now that the nice things are out of the way, I'll discuss the not so nice things. It's cheap. Be careful not to break it.

Really.

Don't expect to be able to abuse it or kick it around the stage. If you're not careful, when you're stomping (funny how people tend to stomp on these things), you could break off a knob.

I've had mine a few years and haven't managed to break it yet. Your mileage may vary, yadda, yadda...

Bottom Line: I'm pretty happy with mine.

After a lot of searching for a case for my daughter's size 0 parlor, I found few cases that would hold it snuggly. At a picking session I had a chance to try out this bar from a Dobro playing associate, before purchasing it. I was quite impressed by the different feel from the other three steels I have from different mfg's. The standard steels are very slippery for me, unless I'm sweating, but the Shubb is not. It is very easy to hold. My slants, and turn cords are easier to play. After a few minutes of adjusting to it, now it is the only one I use. I would highly recommend it.

I own a Yamaha CG 182 SF flamenco guitar, (it is not distributed in the US) which turned into something great after installing the new Savarez Tomatitto's normal tension strings, the sound is crystal clear
If I am sure that nothing goes wrong with my guitar when using the high tension Savarez Tomatitto's strings,I would use them instead of normal tension, but I am not sure the bridge can hold the additional tension load

If you are looking at this item, then you know what it does and why you need it.

I purchased the 8U Space version so that I would have room to grow, but if you don't think you need 8U, then a smaller size may be more portable. I can carry this unit, but it is just thick enough to make carrying it sort of awkward. Other than that, I have no regrets (and, really, I don't regret that, when all is said and done...).

One additional note: I also purchased some rack screws to mount my hardware, but discovered upon opening this unit that rack screws are included.
