I primarily play a Godin LGX-SA for electric and it also has a piezo pickup for an acoustic sound. It even has a separate out so I can run the acoustic sound to a dedicated DI. I LOVE this feature and use it frequently but I always run into the sound being too thin, too metallic, and having too much sustain to sound genuinely acoustic. It makes sense...if I put pure steel strings on my Breedlove acoustic it would probably sound like crap. These hybrid strings are ingenious and work perfect for my application. They still pick up in the magnetic department and even add a bit of warmth. They shine in the acoustic department. While my Godin could never take over as my primary acoustic compared to my Breedlove or Martin, these strings really do make the acoustic sound far more genuine. I also buy the 12 gauge which helps. The downside is bendability (I think I just made up a word). Thick strings don't bend well - I won't be soloing with these guys. I can still do plenty of lead guitar work but unison bends and things of that nature aren't easily accomplished. Probably a niche product so not for everyone, but for my use, I'm glad these are around.
