Product Description

If you have a vintage tube amp and want to get a special sound out of it, look no further. Be careful though, how much gain you add to your signal chain, because you might blow out your speaker with the amount of gain this thing introduces! The true by-pass wiring means you won't hear any signal degradation when the pedal is off, and when you want that extra bite, click this pedal ON and look out!

The sound of the Roll Boost pedal is transparent, and the gain knob fully functional to add some sparkle and a slight boost, or an incredible overdrive from the pre-amp stage distortion you would otherwise not get. The Roll Boost also works great in the pedal chain before distortion pedal, because the volume you get from most electric guitars is not quite enough to get the entire range of distortion harmonics from distortion pedals. This pedal can give you the headroom and bite you always wanted, but couldn't find without custom wiring your amp or buying very expensive boost pedals or processors. Match the JA-38 Roll Boost with the PXL4 or PXL8 pedal routing device to turn ON and OFF simultaneously with other effects, allowing you to control the volume output but keep the gain level set where you want to achieve the best possible tone!

Note: The pedal can also function as a volume cut or hard limiter, simply by turning the gain knob down.

it is a simple 'clean signal boost' pedal.
Meaning, it can be used to boost volume on clean channels, or drive the front end of a low/mid gain amp into breakup without having to adjust the amp controls.
For this purpose, it works exactly as described.
However, in front of a high gain channel, there is no real volume boost (which I hoped for) although it does add a nice extra bit of saturation and sustain.
Love it, no.
Like it, very much so.
Recommend it, heck yes.
For the price it beats the other pedals in its class.
Rock solid build and simple controls, what more do you need.

Great string guide! fantastic working.
okay i've reviewed that.
now onto the screw.
first off, its wayyyy to short. i drilled it into a new neck (bass neck, mighty mite, precision bass, fretless ebonol) and it popped out. no biggie, i said, i'll drill it in again. out it went again.
and then again.
and then again.
you'd think i'd of gotten the problem by now? nope, i'm stubborn. so i found a super super long screw (don't know the dimensions and what not... but i do know that it ALMOST went out the other side of the head.) and i put it in for the string retainer.
now it works like a charm! ;)

One of my gigging and recording guitars is an Ovation 2077 Legend. I bought these because they are designed for this type of guitar, acoustic electric. I am one who believes this sound is unique and is not just an acoustic guitar with a picup attached. The sound these deliver with this axe is superb and the playability is right up there with most of my electrics.
